DESCRIPTION:
APW - Hamilton, Grade 968, 17J, 16S, 14K gold OF original Roy case, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, SW-SS, nickel damascene, s#52097. Gross weight of assembled watch 57.9 dwt (90.1 g). A scarce watch, the total production of the Grade 968 was 1037 made. The Grade 968 was made with two primary damascene patterns; this example features the scarcer earlier style damascene with wavy spokes around center and concentric circles at perimeter. This particular serial number is listed in the Hamilton ledger as being sold to Chris Kuenzel of Springfield, Massachusetts on June 19th, 1897.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with numerous scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, some spots of oxide to regulator assembly, winding wheels, and click; dial with scattered hls, edge chip at 1; excellent hands; case shows medium wear, some scratches to cuvette from slipped past openings, numerous dents and dings to band, two small subtle dings to upper cuvette near edge, reduced engine turning and engraving detail with a ring of full loss at shoulder; tight bow, replacement crown shows little wear; good glass crystal with short fine scratch near 12.
